Nivå

Nivå

Nivå town lies in Fredensborg Municipality. Previously, the town was famous for its major tile works, Sølyst and Nivaagaard. The resulting large excavations in the countryside have been turned into man-made lakes.

The annular kiln of the old Nivaagaard tile works is a well-known attraction. It was only just saved from falling into disrepair and is today the oldest in existence. It is almost the only relic from one of Denmark's most significant historical industries.

The Nivaagaard Picture Gallery

Johannes Hage founded Nivaagaards Malerisamling (The Nivaagaard Picture Gallery) in 1908 and today it is the town's most important attraction.

Nivå harbour is a charming and lively marina, with a lovely bathing beach neighbouring it.
