Hundested

Attractive and cosy fishing village, with an abundantly artist´s life and lovely beaches

The name Hundested originates from royal seal hunts on a reef named "Hunderevet" or "Seal reef". The first harbour was built at the end of the 19th century.
The seals are still here, but now you can only see them by the reefs at Hesselø.

Today the harbour is an active commercial port with fishing boats and yachts. The ferry from Rørvig to Hundested makes the city the western gateway to North Sealand and helps to create life in the area.
In short all the right ingredients for a daily walk along the waterfront.

In the outskirts of Hundested you find the ecological village Dyssekilde in Torup.
It is easy to imagine, that it was here the polar explorer Knud Rasmussen chose to stay between his long expeditions to Greenland.

His house by Spodsbjerg lighthouse is open for visitors during the summer.
